Tapecon Operating System:

“If it doesn’t add value, its waste.” – Henry Ford, 1926

The Tapecon Operating System is based upon the 5 lean principles:  Value, The Value Stream, Flow, Pull, and Perfection.  Tapecon focuses on continuous improvement efforts through effective selection and use of the appropriate lean manufacturing tools.

In 2006, Tapecon applied for and was awarded grant funding from the New York State 37-L grant.  This funding jump-started Tapecon into a Lean journey and transformation with several key programs.

Tapecon Workplace Organization Program (5S’s):

Tapecon has a sustainable workplace organization program based on the principles of the 5S’s (Sort, Straighten, Sweep, Standardize, and Sustain).  The program supports a safer, more visual, and more productive manufacturing and office workplace environment.

Tapecon and Lean Improvement Kaizen Events:

In addition to process teams, Tapecon has adopted the use of Kaizen Events as an implementation tool for improvement.  Through effective facilitation, planning, and a trained workforce, the Kaizen format has proven very successful in achieving sustainable improvement in a variety of areas both on the manufacturing floor as well as in the office environment.

Tapecon and Six Sigma:

Tapecon has certified Six Sigma Green and Black belts on staff utilizing the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology to reduce waste and variation in processes.  Through partnership with the University at Buffalo, Tapecon participates in sponsorship of University at Buffalo students working on six sigma projects.
