Tapecon Receives LE Cup Award from United Way

Tapecon was recently awarded the L.E. Cup from United Way of Buffalo & Erie County! The L.E. (Loaned Executive) Cup is awarded annually to the company in the Corporate Loaned Executive program that has the highest percentage of contribution increase from the previous year. Tapecon was the winner with a 72% increase in contributions in 2019!

United Way's Corporate Loaned Executive (CLE) program companies have dedicated employees who learn

about the work of United Way and our community’s most critical needs and then apply those learnings to assist with campaign season at their respective corporations. In 2019, there were 31 participating companies in the Corporate Loaned Executive program, now LEAD with Purpose. The newly named LEAD with a Purpose program (Learn. Engage. Advocate. Donate.) was redefined to help further the shared purpose of building an equitable, thriving and united community.

Tapecon's CLE members worked hard to get the increase in contributions. They meet weekly to discuss donation tactics, efforts to increase the donation amount, new ideas for raffles and incentives, and how to get people to volunteer their time also. The increased contributions can be mostly attributed to two main efforts: our annual fall enrollment campaign and individual events throughout the year.

During the fall enrollment campaign, the Community & Learning Team implemented a raffle based incentive to

help get more participants. We also had a United Way raffle award winner at Tapecon - an employee received $1,000 in Tops Markets gift cards for his payroll contributions which helped encourage other employees to participate. The team also analyzed the donor data so they could focus their communication and efforts during the campaign to those employees who had not contributed in past years.

EOY Celebration Raffle

Some of the events that Tapecon holds throughout the year helped increase the dollar amount donated to United Way. These events include an annual Baby Shower, participation in the I.M. Freeze, and 50/50 raffles during annual company events like our End of Year Celebration, Company Picnic and Golf Tournament.

United Way hosted an event on Thursday, July 29, 2020, revealing the winner. View the recording of United Way's Award Event here.

One of Tapecon's CLE Members, Greg Pollock, said the "Thanks" goes to the donors and participants of our United Way program. Also, the individual contributors at the different events throughout the year. Without our employees and their willingness to help "solve our community challenges to enhance the lives of others", this L.E. Cup win would not have been possible. Congratulations to Tapecon and all the employees!
